Our Mission
Nova Cascade Editorial (ノヴァカスケード編集部) is an independent editorial team based in Ueno, Tokyo. We were founded on a straightforward conviction: most people replace appliances that could be repaired, because reliable, clearly written repair information is too hard to find.
Our editorial mission is to change that. We research, test, and write practical maintenance and repair guides for the household appliances that Japanese families depend on every day — from the vacuum cleaner that has lost suction to the washing machine that smells of mould, from the coffee maker that brews weakly to the router that keeps dropping the connection.
We do not sell products. We do not take payment to recommend specific brands. Our income comes from clearly labelled advertising, which allows us to maintain full editorial independence over every article we publish. If a method does not work, we say so. If a product is genuinely useful, we say why — without being paid to say it.
Our Approach
Every guide published on this site goes through a three-stage editorial process before it is published.
Stage 1
Research and Technical Review
Our writers research each topic using manufacturer documentation, engineering repair manuals, appliance technician forums, and consumer testing data. We aim to understand the underlying mechanical or electrical reason for a problem before we describe how to fix it — because understanding why something fails is the foundation of genuinely useful repair guidance.
Stage 2
Practical Testing
Where possible, our editorial team tests repair procedures on real appliances before publication. We document what works, what does not work, and where amateur repair attempts are most likely to go wrong. Our step-by-step guides are written from the perspective of someone carrying out the procedure for the first time — not from the perspective of an experienced technician who has forgotten what it is like not to know.
Stage 3
Editorial Review and Safety Check
Before any guide is published, a second editor reviews the content for accuracy, completeness, and safety. We include warnings for procedures that carry any risk of injury or damage, and we are explicit about the limits of DIY repair — when a problem requires a qualified technician, we say so clearly rather than encouraging readers to attempt a dangerous repair.
Our Team

Advertising and Editorial Independence
Nova Cascade Editorial participates in advertising programmes, including Google AdSense, to support the costs of producing free-to-read editorial content. We want to be transparent about how this works and what it means for our readers.
Our Commitment to You
Advertising revenue has no influence over editorial decisions. We do not accept payment from manufacturers or retailers to recommend specific products. Sponsored content (if any is published) is always clearly and prominently labelled as "Sponsored / スポンサー" and is editorially separated from our independent guides.
Google AdSense serves contextually relevant advertisements to our readers based on page content and reader interests. These ads are selected by Google's automated system, not by our editorial team. Clicking on advertisements does not influence our editorial coverage of any product, brand, or topic.
We abide by Google's AdSense programme policies, which prohibit encouraging readers to click ads and require that advertising is clearly distinguished from editorial content. All advertisements on this site are labelled with the "Sponsored / スポンサー" indicator.
